I am sure you’ve heard content is king when it comes to optimizing your website for search engines. Though, don’t make the mistake of writing your contents strictly for search engines because you may very well succeed at getting your page ranked high on search engine results pages (SERP), but if you’ve crammed your webpage with keywords it may not be well received by your human visitors. Ultimately you are writing for human visitors and not search engines. This article will give some tips on writing organic SEO contents that will assist search engines to digest your contents.
First rule is to make proper use of keywords, or long tail keywords. For instance the primary keyword for this website would be SEO, but the chance of this website ranking high for SEO is very low because competition for the keyword SEO is very high. So instead I’ve opt for optimizing for “organic SEO writing”, which is the long tail keyword for SEO. Similarly if you sell bedazzled shirts in Toronto, you would do well to optimized your webpage for the long tail keyword “bedazzled shirts Toronto” as oppose to just “shirts”. Prepare your contents with few instances of your long tail keyword in the main text, keeping in mind that content is king when it comes to organic SEO writing.
Notice how I’ve highlighted text by way of using bold. This is done for both search engines and human visitors. Contents are highlighted to emphasize main points for human readers, but bolding text also serves the purpose of giving weigh to that particular text and thus giving hint to search engines about the content of the webpage. Similarly using headline <h1>, <h2> etc… is also important where <h1> carries higher value to search engine then <h2>, and so forth. So, in the field of organic SEO writing, where content is king, you should make use of bold and headlines to emphasize your content to drive your point home and to improve your Google pagerank.
Finally, if you incorporate images into your webpages you should name the image properly. Don’t use generic name like image1, image2 ect… instead naming it with your long tail keywords, such as organic SEO writing, and make sure you make use of the Alt tag, that is the description of the image which appears when you hover your mouse over an image when you view a webpage. In this case I would give the image an Alt tag that says something like: freelance organic SEO writing.
